Two fun teen-read releated items worthy of a shout-out:

1) Lisa McMann, author of the super-popular paranormal romance, Wake, has announced an essay contest inspired by her novels. The Fund Your Dream contest invites teens 14-18 years of age to write about the greatest obstacles they’ve overcome. There’s prize money and fame and the deadline to enter is March 6, 2009. Thanks to the readergirlz blog for the link.

2) The Children’s Book Council’s (CBC) 2009 Teen Choice Book Awards are getting underway. Teenreads.com is partnering up with the CBC to get teens to choose the 5 finalists, and then, to vote the winning title. So think about the best 5 YA titles you read in 2008 and then head here to check out the list of nominees. You can add nominees and then you vote for the 5 books you think should become finalists. Stay tuned for more info. The winner will be announced in May 2009.
